About Miami Recovery Project

Who We Are

Miami Recovery Project is a Recovery Community Organization built by and for people in recovery. Established in 2020, we were created to help individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges access support, build meaningful connections, and find a sense of community.

In our early years, we focused on peer support services, mutual aid meetings, and building a strong recovery community. In 2021, we received funding from Thriving Mind, which allowed us to strengthen and expand our peer support services and reach more individuals in need.

As our work grew, we began to see the deeper challenges many individuals were facing beyond recovery alone.

In 2022, we recognized a growing need to support individuals experiencing homelessness in Miami. Many people we encountered were navigating both recovery and life on the streets without access to consistent care or resources. We knew we had to expand our efforts to meet this need.

We began providing homeless outreach services, meeting individuals directly in the community and offering support, resources, and connection to care.

In 2023, with funding from the Miami Dade County Homeless Trust, we were able to expand these outreach efforts across Miami Dade County. This allowed us to reach more individuals, provide essential supplies, and connect people to recovery support and critical services.

Today, we continue to grow while staying rooted in our mission: to meet people where they are and ensure that anyone in Miami who needs support can access it.
